CROSSROADS

Role: Woman1 & 2

This adaptation of Jason Robert Brown’s song cycle 'Songs for a New World' is about moments of decision. With every song we meet a new character in his or her world.

There is a wealthy middle-aged women who threatens to jump from her penthouse in New York if her husband won’t pay more attention to her.

We meet a young man from the suburbs who dreams of a career in basketball. We follow a group of Spanish immigrants on a ship to America in 1492 and we meet the wife of Santa Claus who is tired of spending Christmas alone on the North Pole.

Although at first sight these people couldn’t be more different from each other, they all have one thing in common: they are on the edge of making an important decision which could change their lives forever and might be the beginning of “a new world”.

All of the characters were played by Leonie Kappmeyer and Emilio Moreno Arias, who are supported by Meren Verhaegh and Roy Goldman.
The songs were sung in English, German, Dutch and Spanish.
